The tortoise had always dream’t of becoming the king in their jungle. One day he met his bosom friend -Snail and told him about his dream of becoming the king.
Everyone laughed including his father. How was he going to pass the test of walking to the Dongo tree within 5 minutes to become the king. Kangaroo was one of his opponent. Everyone gave little tortoise a reason to give up in the contest.
This is how sometimes we encourage people to give up on their dreams. We try to identify reasons why they can’t make it-reasons why they can’t continue-reasons why they should quit.
Be a pillar, support someone, encourage someone and push someone.
On the 18th of April 2019 at La Villa Boutique Hotel in Osu, the women’s commission of Ghana Institute of Journalism under the auspices of Boakye Edna Agnes recognised and awarded greatness in smaller beginnings of women who are doing great things in their own small way.
Oheneyere Gifty Anti was the headline for the award and she graced the occasion with her beautiful self being the presenter for the ultimate award; People’s Women’s Award.
If you are looking for a woman who has been disregarded for chasing after her dream then Oheneyere Gifty Anti is a living testimony but upon everything she was told she still persisted.
I was honoured to be the winner for STAR OF ACTIVISM.
It was an awesome moment and a night of honour. This is my first award after a year and half of doing Activism.
The day I was told I was last in terms of voting, this is what I said to myself; The Last Shall Be The First and indeed the last became the first.
God made it possible-you made it possible.
We can change our societies to become what we want to see. The best life to live is to impact and leave a legacy in someone’s life.
We are in the business of bringing others before us, this is who we are.
The maiden Oheneyere Gifty Anti Awards was lit. Thanks to GlJ-Women’s Commission-she believed in me.
Thanks to the jury for believing in my works.
Thanks to you for believing in me.
Our works shall indeed follow us.
